VERCO DELIVERS STYLISH NEW KINGSTON CABINETS FOR NEW-FORMAT WAITROSE STORES

Following the recent announcement by Waitrose of its ambitious growth plan, Verco Limited is delighted to have been chosen to supply bespoke versions of its Kingston open-chill cabinet for its two new franchise stores at Welcome Break’s Oxford and South Mimms services.

Commenting for Waitrose, development manager Stuart Thom says: “Like Waitrose, Verco has built a reputation for quality and service. Having been one of our suppliers for many years, and with approval from Welcome Break’s building contractors Paradigm Partners and John Lewis’ building group, we had no hesitation in approaching them to supply chiller cabinets for these new franchise stores.”

The cabinets supplied are a derivative of Verco’s Kingston, with features  including a new rounded canopy to replace the standard square version and an ‘Island’ unit that is located in the centre of both sites. All cabinets are temperature-rated to either M0 or M1 specification and are supplied in a unique silver/grey metallic finish.

The 2,500 sq. ft. Waitrose store at Welcome Break’s Oxford Services – one of Europe’s busiest motorway service stations – opened on 1st May and is filled with a total of nineteen 2.5m Kingston’s, which house 55% of the stores merchandise. The four-cabinet ‘Island’ unit comprises two end cabinets and two centre cabinets.

So impressed were Waitrose with the look of the low-height cabinets at Oxford Services, that the refrigeration plan for the new-format franchise store at South Mimms motorway services was altered to incorporate the ‘Island’ units. Verco subsequently rescheduled the manufacture of, and delivered more than, twelve standard-height and six ‘Island’ Kingston cabinets ahead of the planned opening on 15th May, a build programme of less than two weeks.
