VERCO/ONE STOP RELATIONSHIP SPANS FIFTEEN YEARS
October 2007 |
|
In a relationship spanning more than 15 years, Verco has supplied convenience store retailer One Stop with a range of cabinets starting with its own glass-door and Hauser open-chill models to the latest low-front Kingston. This has resulted in Verco becoming One Stop’s principal supplier of retail refrigeration.
One Stop’s head of store development Mark Sutherland explains that Verco’s principal supplier status has resulted from the high level of service they have received over the years. “They are pro-active responsive and professional, and regularly attend meetings to offer advice on topics such as cabinet location within the store environment and the importance of installing cabinets correctly.”
He goes on to say that One Stop always strive to provide customers with the very best retail environment, which is why the company is moving away from glass-door cabinets to open-chill models.
“By removing potential barriers between the merchandise and the customer, in this case the doors, we ensure that products are easily accessible, which in turn provides a better flow of traffic throughout the store.” says Mark, adding that Verco has lead the market in developing integral low-front open-chill cabinets which offer a number of advantages over remote installations.
He quotes cost reductions from eliminating external plant and the ability to re-site cabinets to other stores as major benefits.
Summing up, he says: “We needed to move with the times and Verco proved that they were able to adapt and move with us!”
Verco’s sales and marketing director Coin Jones says that more and more retailers are changing to integral open-chill cabinets as they are easier to install and use the latest technology to maintain the required temperature without a glass-door.
With energy prices increasing and many companies adopting environmentally friendly working practices, there is real a demand for energy efficient cabinets, says Colin. “We are currently working closely with One Stop to further improve the efficiency of our cabinets by installing the latest innovative compressors, fans and timers, as well as using hydrocarbons as replacements for conventional refrigerants to reduce energy consumption.”
Verco has already supplied open-chill and glass-door cabinets to over 200 new and refurbished One Stop sites throughout the UK in 2006 – twice as many as last year.
